Exposing The “Green” Myth

The London Times in early August reported that “It is no longer cool to be green” and that the “Environmentalists” have had their day.

The over indulgence by the chattering classes with a hidden agenda have now been exposed as con artists. Even Al Gore the “guru” of the green movement has been exposed as someone who believes in the moniker “don’t do as I do but do as I say”, when questioned on his recent acquisition of a 100-foot riverboat he responded, “Well it does run on bio diesel”. The whole “Green” movement has been exposed for what it really is, nothing more than Left-Wing propaganda and anti-Capitalist sham.

More than 31,000 scientists across the U.S. – including more than 9,000 Ph.D.s in fields such as atmospheric science, climatology, earth science, environment and dozens of other specialties – have signed a petition rejecting "Global Warming," the assumption that the human production of greenhouse gases is damaging Earth's climate.

"There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate," the petition states. "Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth."

We cannot turn back the clock, the motor car is here to stay, and, yes we can all look at being more efficient in how we might use the car, fewer journeys and being lighter with the “gas” pedal etc. All the major motor manufacturers are addressing the issue of fuel economy and the customer is now benefiting from the development of new technology, whether it be with E85 bio-fuels, hybrid power or cylinder de-activation all new vehicles are becoming more and more fuel efficient.

Chevrolet for example are looking at introducing their 2-mode hybrid system across more of the range, including the pick ups, from autumn 2008 the Silverado pick up will be available with the system; an auto-stop mode shuts off the engine when the vehicle is stopped at traffic lights and remains off until the vehicle needs to accelerate beyond 30mph, just operating until that point on battery power, the batteries are recharged by regeneration, momentum is converted into electrical energy. The whole system is seamless and quiet with the driver experiencing a calmer and quieter environment than that provide by a conventional engine. The 2009 Silverado is anticipated to achieve 40% better urban mileage and a 25% overall improvement in fuel economy when combing motorway and city driving.

Ford already have a similar system available in their Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner, their mid-sized SUV’s.

Dodge for some time have offered their V8’s with cylinder de-activation under light driving, again making the vehicles far more economical than they ever used to be.

So, what is the conclusion here, it seems that those with a political agenda trying to dictate to us what we should be driving have had their day and that reason and freedom of choice has prevailed, feel free to drive the vehicle of your choice in the knowledge that your new SUV or Pick Up, built to the latest North American LEV, (low emission vehicle), standards has the emissions of 50 cars of yesteryear and absolutely no effect on the environment.

I knew this was going to be a scam, and that everybody has started to fall for this. Thank you for this post, for sure green is no longer cool!

Yes man-made global warming is a myth, actually it’s a con-game and only works if people have confidence in it. But at the same time, there are thousands of reasons to clean up the environment and leave the oil in the soil! CO2 isn’t one of them. In fact we should welcome an increase in CO2 (a potent plant fertilizer) if we want to feed 10 billion people!

The whole green thing I think was pushed too hard and in all of the wrong places. I signed my son up for the enviromental protection agency kid’s club – they sent me a full 8×11 sheet of heavy non recycled paper for 6 teeny tiny stickers on it. I think it’s good to be environmentally conscious but so many people don’t realize that part of it is just a marketing strategy and maybe even a conspiracy ;)

I agree with Talk Rehab. IMO it seems that everyone is getting green nowadays, but I just can not see the benefits of that for me. Yeah, I know that I have to increase my egological footprint and stuff, but what I am going to gain from it?

Once the ice started melting and they found another city hidden under the ice you would have thought that would have been enough to shut them all up.

I don’t believe global warming is real, the arguments are very poor. I think being environmentally friendly is still ‘cool’ for other reasons though. I mean wouldn’t you rather have your power come from a solar panel than an open pit coal mine?

I don’t think being green was ever cool… just tolerated. Once gas prices shooting up though it became very uncool.

Keeping the “green is cool” campaign is important, regardless of whether or not you buy the whole global warming thing. Its ironic in that like most things as soon as it becomes populous and politicians jump on the band wagon and commit to finally doing something about it, it goes out of vogue and becomes “uncool”

I see alot of anti-green people here. I believe it’s very important to help the environment a bit.

I agree we need to take responsibility for our actions and their impact on the environment but let’s look at the facts rather than the hype and read between the lines in the newspapers.
