Small and mid-size businesses can decrease expenses, increase productivity and remain profitable despite the current economic crisis with hosted messaging and collaboration solutions.

BURLINGTON, Massachusetts, USA – November 11, 2008 – 123Together.com – a mindSHIFT Technologies company and the leading provider of hosted enterprise-class messaging and collaboration solutions such as hosted Exchange Server 2007 and Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 — today announced that it has eliminated setup fees for all new customers who sign up for its hosted Exchange Server service, available immediately.

“Our goal is to help businesses of all sizes remain profitable despite the current economic downturn,” said Ravi Agarwal, founder and Senior Executive Officer of 123Together.com, a mindSHIFT company. “By eliminating all setup fees for our hosted Exchange Server services, we make it possible for businesses, regardless of their size, to make use of the functionality that this industry-leading, enterprise-class messaging and collaboration application provides without having to incur significant financial expenses or hire additional personnel.”

As a result of the current economic downturn, many small and mid-size businesses (SMBs) are required to decrease overhead, cut operational costs and reallocate existing funds to get the most value from every dollar they spend. At the same time, business owners expect increased productivity and efficiency among their existing employees, with additional human and financial resources unlikely or impossible.

The economic climate has forced SMBs to search for more cost-effective alternatives for critical business applications, such as email, to maximize the effectiveness of existing business resources without having to incur any additional expenses. Hosted software services such as 123Together.com’s hosted Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 have become viable alternatives to in-house email server deployment and can be utilized in exactly the same manner as the in-house application but at a significantly reduced cost.

In order to assist businesses even further and help their employees remain productive, 123Together.com has eliminated the setup fee requirement for all shared and dedicated hosted Exchange packages and any additional mailboxes activated through the month of November 2008.

Many SMBs do not have the financial or human resources or even the time necessary to deploy Microsoft Exchange Server in-house, as it requires significant investments in hardware and software, training and hiring of IT personnel, as well as around-the-clock server maintenance, monitoring and upgrades. 123Together.com’s new special offer makes it possible for SMBs to reap the same benefits from this industry-leading email application as most Fortune 500 companies but at a significantly reduced cost. It provides employees with anytime, anywhere access to their business e-mail no matter where they may be, as well as 2-way wireless synchronization of mail, calendar, contacts, notes and tasks with most mobile devices, including BlackBerry and Apple iPhone 3G.

In addition, 123Together.com offers 24×7 live U.S.-based technical support and 24×7 server maintenance, monitoring and upgrades, enabling businesses without an internal technical staff to profit from this service. All hosted Exchange users also receive free Outlook 2007.

123Together.com’s offer of no setup fees on all of its hosted Exchange packages is available immediately and continues through the end of November 2008.

Top students from all over the world are once again trading the live financial markets with gnuTrade (www.gnutrade.com) in a fierce battle to win exciting cash prizes and an internship with sponsors. The Top Trader competition, run in association with student networking site uuni, invites university students across the globe to trade real, live market prices with play money and compete for large cash prizes. The Spring competition saw huge numbers of participants, from the UK, India, Switzerland, Singapore, USA and Canada among others, making it a resounding success.

Alex Zhang, a Chinese student at the National University of Singapore (NUS), with no previous financial trading experience, emerged triumphantly as the number one trader, making the most ‘profit’ and taking home the first prize. “This is the first trading platform I’ve used so I’m really excited to have won,” he says. “I’m going to use my winnings to pay my school fees and travel; I think I might also use some of my money to trade on gnuTrade again!”

Students who are keen to join or learn more about the current competition should visit the Top Trader website uuni.gnutrade.com. Also, gnuTrade regularly runs trading competitions and would like to hear from organisations and universities which are interested in running a trading competition of their own.

With its unique game-like trading screen, gnuTrade is the only financial gaming company that offers simulated trading and play money competitions on live market prices, to give a real measure of trading success. Competitors are given an initial budget of 10,000 ‘gnus’, a virtual trading currency, which they use to trade on real-time, live stock indices (e.g. FTSE 100, DOW, NASDAQ), currencies (e.g. GBP, YEN, EURO), commodities (e.g. oil and gold) and bonds (e.g. Bond 30, Bund 10).

gnuTrade also offers real money trading for people with any level of financial experience, including new ways to bet on markets.

Lieven Van Marcke, managing director and founder of gnuTrade, says: “Recent changes to our platform design means our Trader Screen is even more user-friendly and appealing to novice traders as well as experts. The screen is especially popular among students and people who are learning to trade because it offers live, practice trading with play money, a live chat helpdesk and animated shapes and characters which make trading easy and more fun.”

Anyone who is interested in experiencing virtual trading with gnuTrade’s groundbreaking platform can access a free play-money guest account, with no sign up, at www.gnutrade.com.

Notes to Editors:
• The Top Trader student trading competition is run by gnuTrade (www.gnutrade.com) in association with uuni (www.uuni.com) – the first online community exclusively for students at the world’s leading universities and business schools. Owned and managed by City&Law, the uuni site connects high-flying students from around the world for academic, career and social networking.

• gnuTrade (pronounced ‘noo trade’) is the first financial gaming site to use striking graphics to represent the live global markets. This means that price movements are easy to follow and players gain a better, more enjoyable trading experience. The site offers novel, simple ways to bet on the markets or other players and clear trading guides for those who are new to trading or want to improve their skills.

The most-asked, most-hotly pursued question in physics today is what determines mass in an object. Scientists at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, as well as at Fermilab in Illinois, are hoping to find what they call the “Higgs Boson”, or what is known as God Particle. Higgs, they believe, is a particle, or set of particles, that might give others mass. This particle has been called the “God particle” because it would explain the eternal question, “Why is there something rather than nothing?”

Till date Higgs Boson is the single missing piece of the Standard Model yet to be spotted. Electromagnetism describes how particles interact with photons, tiny packets of electromagnetic radiation. The strong force binds the elements of atomic nuclei together, and the weak force governs radioactivity and hydrogen fusion (which generates the sun’s energy).

Why should I be aware of this?

If God Particle is found the present theory of particle physics will be proved correct. If not physicists will have to develop another theory. There is another school of thoughts which oppose the experiment. The opponents, who have taken its architects to court in the United States and France, believe it will create black holes in which the Earth could disappear. But scientist on the project assure that they will blink in and out of existence before anything scary happens.

God Particle and social/mental health

There are reports of a section of people traumatized by news of Big Bang experiment and the fear created by rumors about the end of the world. A 16-year old girl from Madhya Pradesh, India, killed herself by consuming pesticide after watching doomsday predictions made on Indian news programmes.

In East India several people prayed and fasted for Divine intervention to save the world. Many women and children visited temples and prayed for deliverance, according to official reports

All about God Particle

Does Higgs Boson exist?
To determine whether the Higgs Boson exists, researchers must smash other particles together at very high speeds. If the energy from that collision is high enough, it is converted into smaller bits of matter — particles — one of which could be a Higgs Boson. Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the most powerful particle accelerator ever built, is the Big Bang test machine which is expected to open a new window on the universe. The Big Bang machine has already been switched on and the protons have completed their first circuit. The eventual collision of two proton beams is scheduled for October 21, which scientists hope will create a ‘mini-bang’, mimicking conditions that existed a “microsecond” after the Big Bang almost 14 billion years ago.

The first test fired a beam of protons clockwise around the 17-mile tunnel of the collider deep under the rolling fields along the Swiss-French border. Then another beam was sent in the opposite, counterclockwise direction The beams will gradually be filled with more protons and fired at near the speed of light in opposite directions around the tunnel, making 11,000 circuits a second. They will travel down the middle of two tubes about the width of fire hoses, speeding through a vacuum that is colder than outer space. At four points in the tunnel, the scientist will use giant magnets to cross the beams and cause protons to collide. The collider’s two largest detectors — essentially huge digital cameras weighing thousands of tons — are capable of taking millions of snapshots a second.

It is likely to be several weeks before the first significant collisions. The first test fired a beam of protons clockwise around the 17-mile tunnel of the collider deep under the rolling fields along the Swiss-French border. Then another beam was sent in the opposite, counter-clockwise direction.

“Dark matter” and antimatter

The CERN experiments could reveal more about “dark matter,” antimatter and possibly hidden dimensions of space and time. Smaller colliders have been used for decades to study the makeup of the atom. Scientists once thought protons and neutrons were the smallest components of an atom’s nucleus, but experiments have shown that protons and neutrons are made of quarks and gluons and that there are other forces and particles.

The experiments could help scientists find answers to some of the biggest questions in physics, such as why the universe looks the way it does, and how to explain mass, gravity and mysterious “dark matter”.

Following on from the outstanding success of the 420bhp 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT-8, American Car Imports can now take orders for two other Challenger models.

Dodge are offering the Challenger R/T with the 5.7 litre V-8 Hemi engine with a 5-speed automatic transmission and a power output of 370 bhp and 398 lb ft of torque. The Challenger R/T will be the first modern large Hemi engined car available with manual transmission, on offer is a Tremec 6-speed manual option borrowed from the Viper fitted with a Pistol Grip style shifter reminiscent of the 1970’s cars. Choosing the manual transmission increases the cars already impressive statistics to 375 bhp with 404 lb ft of torque and the 0-60mph dash taking well under 6 seconds. American Car Imports anticipate demand for this version to be extremely high, so, if you are interested contact ACI now.

There is also an entry level SE Challenger with a 3.5 litre V-6 engine and a 4-speed automatic transmission with 250 bhp and 250 lb ft of torque, still retaining the classic looks and 70’s styling of the V-8 powered cars but available at a very affordable price.

Both the R/T and the SE are to be equipped with a host of safety features including ABS, ESP, brake assist, side airbags, traction control and tyre pressure monitoring systems. A hill start assist feature holds the manually equipped car in place on hill starts.

A host of additional options are available such as the MyGig multimedia system with Boston Acoustics speakers, Power Sunroof and High Intensity Discharge Headlamps making the overall offer from Dodge truly a car to be reckoned with. Is this now the class leader? taking over from Ford’s Mustang – come on GM, when is the Camaro coming?

The London Times in early August reported that “It is no longer cool to be green” and that the “Environmentalists” have had their day.

The over indulgence by the chattering classes with a hidden agenda have now been exposed as con artists. Even Al Gore the “guru” of the green movement has been exposed as someone who believes in the moniker “don’t do as I do but do as I say”, when questioned on his recent acquisition of a 100-foot riverboat he responded, “Well it does run on bio diesel”. The whole “Green” movement has been exposed for what it really is, nothing more than Left-Wing propaganda and anti-Capitalist sham.

More than 31,000 scientists across the U.S. – including more than 9,000 Ph.D.s in fields such as atmospheric science, climatology, earth science, environment and dozens of other specialties – have signed a petition rejecting “Global Warming,” the assumption that the human production of greenhouse gases is damaging Earth’s climate.

“There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate,” the petition states. “Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.”

We cannot turn back the clock, the motor car is here to stay, and, yes we can all look at being more efficient in how we might use the car, fewer journeys and being lighter with the “gas” pedal etc. All the major motor manufacturers are addressing the issue of fuel economy and the customer is now benefiting from the development of new technology, whether it be with E85 bio-fuels, hybrid power or cylinder de-activation all new vehicles are becoming more and more fuel efficient.

Chevrolet for example are looking at introducing their 2-mode hybrid system across more of the range, including the pick ups, from autumn 2008 the Silverado pick up will be available with the system; an auto-stop mode shuts off the engine when the vehicle is stopped at traffic lights and remains off until the vehicle needs to accelerate beyond 30mph, just operating until that point on battery power, the batteries are recharged by regeneration, momentum is converted into electrical energy. The whole system is seamless and quiet with the driver experiencing a calmer and quieter environment than that provide by a conventional engine. The 2009 Silverado is anticipated to achieve 40% better urban mileage and a 25% overall improvement in fuel economy when combing motorway and city driving.

Ford already have a similar system available in their Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner, their mid-sized SUV’s.

Dodge for some time have offered their V8’s with cylinder de-activation under light driving, again making the vehicles far more economical than they ever used to be.

So, what is the conclusion here, it seems that those with a political agenda trying to dictate to us what we should be driving have had their day and that reason and freedom of choice has prevailed, feel free to drive the vehicle of your choice in the knowledge that your new SUV or Pick Up, built to the latest North American LEV, (low emission vehicle), standards has the emissions of 50 cars of yesteryear and absolutely no effect on the environment.

There is an increasing demand for bamboo products because of its renewability/sustainability. Botanically categorized as grass, bamboo maybe the world’s most sustainable resource.

Being the fastest growing grass which can shoot up a yard or more a day, bamboo reaches maturity quickly and is ready for harvesting in about 4 years. Bamboo does not require replanting after harvesting because its vast root network continually sprouts new shoots which almost zoom up while you watch them, pulling in sunlight and greenhouse gases and converting them to new green growth. And all this happens naturally, without the need for petroleum-guzzling tractors and poisonous pesticides and fertilizers.

But the environmental advantage gained by the fact that bamboo is a rapidly renewable resource is outweighed by the environmental cost of transporting the bamboo to long from where it is grown.

Modern Uses of Bamboo

Dell CEO Michael Dell unveiled a “never before seen” eco-inspired computer with a bamboo casing’s speech at the Fortune Green conference in April 2008. The computer is 81 percent smaller than a standard desktop, uses 70 percent less power and is filled with recycled materials like old bottles, milk jugs and detergent cases. While Dell wouldn’t give the name of the bamboo box, he said the product would come out later this year and would likely range in price between $500 and $700. It is rightly believed by many that no other plant has had the impact that bamboo has had on so many cultures over such an extended period of time. But now, with the help of technology, scores of new uses have been found for the age old bamboo. Here are some –

Bamboo furniture

Bamboo flooring

Bamboo blinds

Bamboo is a very comfortable eco-fibre which is naturally anti-microbial. Due to the presence of micro pores, the fabric absorbs three times more moisture than cotton, making it very comfortable to wear in the hot summer.

More and more people are questioning whether the water, and the package it comes in, is safe, or at least safer than tap water — and if the convenience is worth the environmental impact.

Over the past two decades, people have increasingly been shifting to bottled water because they consider it safe, find it refreshing, calorie-free, convenient to carry around, tastier than some tap water and healthier than soft drinks.

Drinking-water may be contaminated by a range of chemical, microbial and physical hazards that could pose risks to health if they are present at high levels. Examples of chemical hazards include lead, arsenic and benzene. Microbial hazards, include bacteria, viruses and parasites, such as Vibrio cholerae, hepatitis A virus, and Crytosporidium parvum, respectively. Physical hazards include glass chips and metal fragments. Because of the large number of possible hazards in drinking-water, the development of standards for drinking-water requires significant resources and expertise, which many countries are unable to afford.

Bottled water and the environment

1. While the bottles come from far away, most of them end up close to home — in a landfill. Most bottled water comes in recyclable PET plastic bottles, but only about 13 percent of the bottles we use get recycled.

2. Plastics travel through our sewage system and land up in the oceans. This poses a huge threat to marine life. To a sea turtle, a floating plastic bag looks like a jellyfish. And plastic pellets, the small hard pieces of plastic from which plastic products are made, look like fish eggs to seabirds. Drifting nets entangle birds, fish and mammals, making it difficult, if not impossible to move or eat. As our consumption of plastic mounts, so too does the danger to marine life.

Bottled water and your health

Some substances may prove more difficult to manage in bottled than tap water. This is generally because bottled water is stored for longer periods and at higher temperatures than water distributed in piped distribution systems. Control of materials used in containers and closures for bottled waters is, therefore, of special concern. In addition, some micro-organisms, which are normally of little or no public health significance, may grow to higher levels in bottled waters. This growth appears to occur less frequently in gasified water and in water bottled in glass containers compared to still water and water bottled in plastic containers. There have also been reports of fraud in which ordinary tap water has been added to used mineral water bottles and sold as the original article. Consumers may not be able to detect this by taste alone and, if concern is warranted, should examine the closures of bottled waters carefully before purchase and insist on seeing bottles opened in their presence in restaurants and other food and beverage service establishments.
