New 2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Coupe
More fuel efficient, more power and with better acceleration than the previous generation, the new Shelby Mustang has been refined and improved to enhance the performance of this iconic car, taking many of the improvements from the development of the Shelby GT500KR.
The supercharged dual overhead camshaft engine now develops 540 bhp and 510 lb ft torque, more than the previous generation car’s figures of 500 and 480. The aluminium power dome hood not only enhances the appearance of the car it aids the engine cooling. The car also features a conical air filter in place of the more traditional flat-panel system, allowing for more cool air to be forced into the engine again increasing the power and efficiency of the engine.
The clutch has also been upgraded to a twin-disc system, greatly improving the driveability of the car. The first 4 gear ratios stay the same but the 5th and 6th gears are changed to improve the fuel efficiency by further lowering the rev’s. New 19” wheels are featured on the coupe with Goodyear F1 super car tyres and together with optimised dampers the car is now a lot more competent on handling with better roll control with more body control through cornering.
The interior of the car has also had a significant upgrade with genuine leather used all round for the upholstery and real aluminium on the instrument panel giving the car a more “up-market” feel.
To import one of these true American muscle cars into the UK you will need to contact one of the specialist importers such as “American Car Imports” in London. I’m a big fan of Mustangs – the 2010 GT 500 is what the car should have been in its initial release. I love the design cues of the car, and the look/feel/sound of the engine and its related performance is unmatched. Yeah, the top level Corvette is still faster, but nothing can match the looks of a Shelby.
Unfortunately, the dealer markups ruined this car for me. Virtually every dealer in America spent the first 3 years of the car’s production trying to convince people it was a collector’s item worthy of 30-40% markups. You can attach the Shelby name to it, but it’s not going to make these cars anything like their original, custom-built relatives, and there is no way they’ll retain the value of their predecessors.
i always liked the look of the mustangs… this new one is no exeption… unlike that new chevy camaro, that car’s new look is just not doing it for me, loved how it used to look though… the markups for the shelby that adam shared with us is pretty steep, i bet it’s going to affect the car’s sales a great deal…

My first Mustang was a “67 coupe (bought new). I’m pretty sure my NEXT one will be a 2010 GT 500 !!! Wonder if it’ll make me feel 19 again??
I owned a stang in high school, now granted it was a POS, but I still had a stang. This car is unreal. If I could go back I would only drive a stang, but I have kids and they just don’t have the size I need.

The New 2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is nice but my heart will always go out to the Shelby Eleanor GT. I mean that car is so bad ass that Hollywood made it a star (Gone in 60 Seconds)

Mustangs are the best of all american cars. They’re big, classy, and very comfortable. Moreover, they’re shape is unique
